This addition was to an existing gambrel style cape house of modest size. The owner wanted an enclosed breezeway and a two-car garage with a full, clear span, second story for storage. The plan was to have the new match the architecture of the existing, but not let it over power the original.
By setting the new garage roof line perpendicular to the original and by using a different material for the front of the breezeway, the new addition nicely complements the original house.
